How does U-Call work?

Once your mobile is connected to the Internet, U-Call establishes a peer-to-peer VoIP connection and through its network of servers, is able to support VoIP calls made through the U-Call application and terminate them to the required destination world-wide – the need for international roaming is thus eliminated.

With its quality infrastructure, U-Call is able to offer secure conversations and outstanding sound quality

U-Call is optimised to support VoIP calls over the available data connections by dynamically and seamlessly adjusting to the network conditions and capabilities of the mobile handset, even when in motion, giving you the very best in seamless, roaming VoIP communication

U-Call is a service that uses the Internet. U-Call sends your conversations and messages in little data packets (generally called kilobytes) across the Internet. You will therefore be charged by your local service provider to connect to the Internet and send data.

You can obtain lower data rates by purchasing data bundles or for prepaid users convert airtime to data bundles , alternatively you will be subjected to the higher 'out of bundle' data rates.

The end result is that with U-Call you save money and experience global communication as it should be – cheap and with no limitations.

Take a look at our illustration, below, to get a clear picture of how U-Call works.

How does U-Call work?

Your handset connects to the Internet allowing U-Call to make calls over the Internet using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies, instead of the traditional networks. Your mobile can connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi, GPRS/EDGE, 3G/HSDPA and other emerging mediums.
